Winds 35-40 Mph during the boys IHSA Regional Championships
This was a very tough regional field of competition.  Going into this meet the Maroons were ranked 8th out of the ten teams competing today.  It just came down to 3 points in advancing.  The team that edged us out of the 6th spot was ranked 9th going into this meet.  The Maroons ran very well, however the other teams did also.  This race as a runner, you had to be mentally strong, because of the wind, 40-mph.  The coaches can only expect the athlete’s to do their best  and for all the supporters that helped cheered on the Maroons today, (saw 100% effort by all the teammates.)  One athlete on the team was injured the entire season with a foot injury, and ran through the pain for the team.  Many athlete’s would have given up, but this athlete have a big heart and is mentally tough.  -Pain is his friend!  His doctor told this athlete to shut it down for the season.  This athlete told the coach, “I can rest after the season.”  One could only imagine what type of time this injured athlete would have ran if ever 100% healthy this season.
