It was a nice day for a race but the regional meet cc course was definitely no meet for the mentally challenge. If you had any doubt then you were defeated before you even started this race. The course was a true cc course today with mud, ponds, lakes, stream, all over the course. The Maroons went into this regional meet ranked 10th place, dead last, according to all the news articles. On this day the Maroons ran with a no fear attitude, a chip on their shoulder, believing in themselves and their ability to run with several of the state best teams in Illinois. This was a very difficult course to run on today, however the Maroons were mentally up for the challenge. Great Job!!
The quote of the day-One of the opposing coaches: (Where did you guys come from)
Next meet-Granite City, which is flat and very, very fast!!! If the Maroons can bring that same intensity from the regional meet into the sectional meet (Look Out) The Maroons will most likely be ranked very low to dead last in this sectional. (However that was once said at the regional meet and we all know how that ending went:)
