The Maroons finished second at the WB6 last week and knew going into the regional championships it would be very difficult to finish in the top 6. The Maroons weren’t given a chance and were overlooked by the opposing teams at the regional meet. Going into this meet, the team needed several things to happen. 1. They needed one of their 5,6, or 7 runner to be on and have a good race. (That Happened) 2. (They needed some of the other teams to overlook them. (That Happened) and 3. The Team needed to be on and have a good race (That Happened)!!! When you see Zach ahead of the 4th and 5th U.T. runners the entire race with 200 meters left to go in the race, (Something Special was Happening)!!! Jackson, Tim and Jon leading the charge for the Maroons and Jon ahead of his key runner, “Something bad was brewing for the other teams.’ And Austin finishing as the fifth team member with a strong finish put the Maroons over the top as a team. After Zach ran by, Mr. Wolf said he was going to go to look for our 5th runner and put him on his back and carry him in if it’s necessary. Well Austin, I guess Mr. Wolf is going to be giving you a piggy back ride in the near future? Outstanding Team Performance Today!!! (You never gave up!!!) Other teams counted you out, but You Never Gave Up!!
