Jade Ford
Jade earned the award after taking 8th place at the Western Big 6 Conference Meet among a field of 89 runners. Team captain Keeley Knobloch gave a speech today before the race and it was intense and electrifying When the gun went off, one could see the intensity on the face of Jade. She was focus and mentally ready to race today and her eyes were filled with determination after the speech. Jade went through the first mile with a pack of 7 runners. She looked great, however it’s was only the first mile. The crowd didn’t really acknowledge her because most of the time, some runners tend to fall off pace after the first mile. Jade went through the the two mile marker and she still had that fire and determination in her eyes. The pack of runners which was once 7 is now down to a cluster of four. The crowd now acknowledge that the Maroons runner is not fading and is a major threat to other teams to offset the team scores. I hear opposing team coaches yelling, ‘who is that runner from Moline.’ With 400 meters left in the race Jade starts her kick by finishing the race with a personal best time of (19:38) Jade had such a strong finishing kick, I believe if she would have started it earlier, she would have finished a couple places higher. Jade was the Maroons #3 runner for the team today which helped the Maroons win it’s 7th straight Western Big 6 Conference Title. ‘
Jade ran a spectacular race today!!!!
